How much to spend on a wedding? 

Be realistic and with a stretch budget and start from how much you want to spend and work backward, Know exactly what is most important to you on your big day? Depending on where you are financially, your debt ratio, your income, your savings, who is helping you pay for the wedding, and when you want to have your wedding these are some things to consider when you are trying to get married without breaking the bank I encourage you to know EXACTLY what is the most important thing to you.  

Do you care more about having all the photos and videos- hire the best you can there.

Do you care more about having a magical dress- get your dream dress. 

Do you care more about having a great food selection- get your number one caterers. 

Do you care more about having the perfect venue- book your dream venue.

But once you know what you care about the most, make everything else fit around that. 

There is so much that goes into being married that is deeply wrapped up with finances and money and above all, you should be having these conversations very early on. Ideally, you get married and all of a sudden you are finding all sorts of surprises. Or finding that your partner has polar opposite money habits than you do.

They either want to spend all their money and rack up unpaid credit cards or they are avid savers and any sort of frivolous spending stresses them out. 

Being able to have open and frank conversations about what blending your future finances is going to be like is VITAL to having a successful and resentment-free relationship as you tackle things as one.
